In Japan, more and more older people and the problem is most
of them live alone so the government there continues to think about how so they
can live independently, especially in particular to matters out of the house.
Hitachi introduces ROPITS (Robot for Personal Intelligent
Transport System) which is used as a passenger vehicle that can run
automatically to escort someone (parents) to one place.
When needed ROPITS can automatically pick someone up at one
location and then will escort the person to the intended location and ROPITS
can be controlled via a tablet or mobile phone.
ROPITS itself is intended for short trips or just around the
neighborhood so do not be surprised if ROPITS only have a maximum speed of 6 km
/ h.
Just like other vehicles without driver, ROPITS also
equipped with various sensors to avoid accidents.
ROPITS has a height 160 cm and a width of only 70 cm making
it suitable for hanging around in the housing or the environment.
